All children love a really good playground. Even though play is increasingly being moved to screens and phones today, an excursion to the child’s favorite playground is one of the highlights of the week. In fact, all children have the right to play in a stimulating, safe and appropriate environment. It is decided in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child that Sweden is of course behind it.

AT HOME OR PUBLIC PLACE?
If you are going to build a public playground that everyone can take part in, there are a lot of rules to take into account. You can read about all the rules that must be followed in the Plan- och bygglagen (PBL) and it is mainly about safety requirements and but accessibility for people with disabilities.
If you are going to build a playground at home in the garden, you naturally have more freedom. Even if you do not have to comply with the same rules as at a public playground, it is always a good idea to check with the municipality if a building permit is required. It is probably not a problem if you own the plot yourself, but there are other rules that you must keep in mind. For example, there are rules for how close to the plot boundary you may build and also the height of the playground.
